Last Tuesday, the Seymour High School (SHS) Concert Choir took to the court at the Lady Vols game to sing the national anthem.
According to Jean Burkhart, the choir director, the SHS Concert Choir has been singing the national anthem for the Lady Vols since 2015, and the group has been asked to sing at the “We Back Pat” night for the last two years.
The performance at the “We Back Pat” night in particular strikes a chord with Burkhart.
“I’m particularly proud that my students have been chosen to sing on ‘We Back Pat’ night. Both my parents suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, and I am always glad to be a part of any event that promotes to search for the cure,” she said. “The SHS Choir is well-known throughout the community for their beautiful singing of the national anthem, and they are always proud to represent Seymour High School.”
According to the University of Tennessee, the Southeastern Conference’s eighth-annual observance of “We Back Pat” Week went under way from Jan. 20 – Jan. 27.
