The number five team in the state class AAA, the Morristown West Lady Trojans came to Seymour and put a 54-33 loss on the Lady Eagles last Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans are currently 20-2 overall and 10-0 in District 2-AAA. The Lady Eagles are 10-10, 3-7.
The Morristown West defense was stifling throughout the game holding the Lady Eagles to only nine points the first two quarters.
At the end of the first quarter, Morristown West showed they meant business defensively holding the Lady Eagles to only three points while scoring 13 taking a 13-3 lead going into the second quarter.
The Lady Trojans only allowed six more points in the second quarter opposed to their 25 points and the Lady Trojans led 24-9 at the half. At that point however Seymour was still within striking distance despite their low offensive production.
The Lady Eagles didn’t throw in the towel. They came back in the third quarter and outscored Morristown West 13-10 cutting the lead to 13, 35-22.
The Lady Trojans slammed the door shut in the fourth quarter scoring 19 points opposed to Seymour’s 11.
Maci Pitner led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 11 points followed by Katelyn Waggoner with eight.
