The Knoxville Police Department released its Memorial Day weekend traffic enforcement results on Wednesday, and zero fatal crashes were reported.
The number of total citations was 1,066, total warnings were 234, total DUI arrests were nine, total misdemeanor arrests were 130, the total number of crashes was 54 and the total number of motorists assisted was 26.
“We are pleased to announce that we had zero fatal crashes during the Memorial Day weekend. Our officers worked very hard to observe and enforce traffic violations to keep residents and visitors safe along the roadways of our city during this busy travel period; which is known for serious crashes and drivers who drive while impaired,” the KPD said.
