In a recent national review Knox County scored significantly higher than Sevier County on the issue of government transparency.

Knox County, which scored an A Minus, received only one negative mark out of 10 categories. The negative grade was for Lobbying.

According to the Sunshine Review, the non-profit organization who released the report, information on taxpayer funded lobbying, including list of employed lobbyists, memberships to lobbying organizations, and associated fees were not posted for Knox County.

However, Knox County received positive grades in the other nine categories which are Budget, Meetings, Elected Officials, Administration, Permits and Zoning, Audits, Contracts, Public Records and Local Taxes.
