The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a possible theft at White Star Market, to discover the suspect may be an employee of the same business.
Officer Jimmy Huddleston, who responded to the call, said White Star Market Owner Phil White said his store was short $300 Feb. 12 and $780 Feb. 13. White then said he suspected Sonny Cook, a current employee, as the culprit.
White said Cook was working both times the money was missing. Additionally, White produced security pictures of Cook conducting suspicious activity behind the counter and near the cash register.
Huddleston’s report states White did make these pictures available for the incident report. They have yet to be released as public record.

27 year retired Army Seargent, one of the most honoable people I know.I would and have trusted this man with my business. Many times he refused payment for services due to lack of business! I am certain “Mr. White”, you have made a terrible mistake amd I hope you have to pay dearly.Same goes for this rag that printed this unsubstaniated story ! By the way why has the store not fired this man since you believe him to be a thief!!
One more thing,is it not “slander”,when an individual is accused unjustly and without proof!
I am very certain that “Mr. White” has made a very big mistake! I have know Sonny Cook all my live,
he is my brother, of which I am very proud to say. He has worked hard all his live to get were he is today, and if you think for one moment that he would do something like this and risk losing everything he has worked to hard for you would have to be incredibly stupid! Sonny is a honorable and upstanding person in his community and I know that all his friends and family are totally appalled by these accusations. As for “Mr. White”, I hope that you do have to pay dearly for trying to soil my brother’s reputation! The same for this rag of a paper!
