High levels of rain water caused by slow drainage promted Impromptu to close for two days. (The Herald/ Joe King)

Now that the long days of rain and the subsequent snow is behind the Seymour and South Knoxville communities, many residents are cleaning up the aftermath including the owner of an iconic local business.

Beulah Hall, owner of Impromptu Home and Gardening Accessories in South Knoxville, said she had to close her business for two days due to the accumulation of rain in front of the store.

“It was a drainage problem,” she explained. “This has only happened one other time about four years ago because the rain came so hard and fast.”

Although Hall said there wasn’t any damage caused because of the rain, she said she did have to move some of her merchandise to prevent the any of her products from being destroyed. Some of merchandise Hall had to move to save it from water damage included garden fountains, statues, and pottery.
