Roe Addresses Spending Cuts

Although the much covered fiscal cliff debate finally hauled its way through congress, US Representative Phil Roe (R-TN), explained the fix was far from permanent.

“On January 1, taxes increased for every American,” he explained. “While the payroll tax cut put in place by President Obama two years ago was not extended, this agreement locked in more significant tax cuts permanently.”

Roe, who voted against the legislation, said he would have liked to see more attention paid to spending rather than the emphasis that was placed on taxation increases.
