There must indeed be something in the water in Sevier County because once again students from both Sevier County High School and Seymour High School have dominated other schools in having some of the highest numbers of students selected to participate in the All-East Choir.

The All-East is an annual East Tennessee Vocal Association event featuring performances by the All-East TN Middle School, Freshmen, Men’s, Women’s, and SATB Choruses. The weekend before Thanksgiving, students will meet for two days of rehearsals with guest conductors and give a performance at the end of the weekend.

Dr. Kenney Potter form Wingate University in North Carolina, Alan Eleazar from Hiwassee College, Dr. Larry Wyatt from The University of South Carolina, Dr. Karen Kenaton-French from The University of Texas, and Dr. Eric Thorson from Carson-Newman were the guest directors for the above listed choirs.

Participation in an All-East Chorus is competitive and is a source of great pride to parents, students and their directors. Participation in an All-East chorus is a prerequisite for a position in the Tennessee All-State Chorus.
