With all the local emphasis on infrastructure, keeping track of the numerous road projects in the area is necessary for nearly every resident. Whether it is traveling to work, home, or school, roadway construction projects often affect many aspects of daily life.

Recently, the Tennessee Department of Transportation released a list of current area road project taking place near Seymour.

For Sevier County, the Hwy. 66 project is moving along in two separate phases, Phase Two and Phase Three. Phase Two consists of Douglas Dam Rd. to south of the I-40 Interchange whereas Phase Three goes from Boyds Creek Hwy. to Douglas Dam Rd.

This week on Phase Two Blalock and Sons crew members paved the surface course of asphalt mix for the future left lane and turn lanes. They also performed general cleanup, back-filled and placed sod in median islands as part of preparations for final completion of the project.
