While budgetary restraints are always a major consideration for educational administrators, ensuring the quality of teaching doesn’t decrease with diminished pay rates is also a pressing matter.

Sevier County Director Schools Dr. Jack Parton said utilizing specialized contracts that permit teachers to work a segment of the year while receiving a proportional salary is part of an effort to achieving this goal.

“The contracts are based on the school system’s personnel needs and what is in the best interest of the students,” he said. “No the contracts are given annually based on system needs.”
