This week the United Way of Sevier County announced it will cease all operations and close its doors at the end of the year.

The press release states a significant reduction in the operating budget has sparked the decision.

Sevier County United Way Chair Stacie McCarter could not be reach for comment due to an illness and Vice Chair Faye Nelson declined to provide any additional information at this time.

Nelson said she didn’t want to give any specific because she hopes there is a possibility to save the organization before the year ends.
