Officers with the Sevierville Police Department have set up a memorial fund for the family of 20-month-old Lincoln David Akers who passed away last week. Lincoln’s father, Adam Akers is an Officer and SWAT team member with the department.

The toddler died the morning of Sept. 20, when a dresser fell over onto him. Officer Akers was home at the time of the accident, but was unable to revive his son while he waited for emergency workers to arrive.

The child was taken to the LaConte Medical Center where resuscitation attempts proved unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

The death was ruled an accident by the Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office.
