Justin Scott Gheen. (The Herald/ SCSD)

A Seymour resident carrying a number of illegal substances was taken into custody after being stopped for a routine violation Aug. 19.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. Justin Scott Gheen, 30 of Seymour, was driving down Boyds Creek Highway near the intersection of Chapman Hwy.  when Sevier County Deputy Matt Smith pulled him over for driving with his high-beams activated.
Smith reported that open containers were in plain sight inside Gheen’s vehicle.
A search of Gheen’s vehicle produced a green pill bottle belonging to Karen Carmichael that was hidden underneath the driver’s seat. Inside the bottle were two Adderall 30 mg pills and 19 Alprazolam (Xanax) 2mg pills.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed Gheen was also driving on a revoked license and had failed to satisfy a citation from 2010.
Gheen was then arrested and is being charged with a schedule two and four narcotics charge, as well as driving on a revoked license.
He was released earlier the same day on a $4,000 bond. Gheen’s court date is set for Sept. 19.
