After mistakenly reporting him dead, Knox County Sheriff Officials said they were given incorrect information from UT Medical Hospital regarding a man involved in a motorcycle crash July 29.

“It is still under investigation as to why we were told he was dead,” said Martha Dooley, media director for Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 10 a.m. Steven Perry, 31, and an unidentified man on a separate motorcycle were riding near 6300 Burnett Creek Rd. in South Knoxville.

While taking a curve, Perry lost control of the vehicle and crashed down a 30-foot embankment.
