Familiarity with the devastating storm damages of 2011has caused many Seymour residents to take extra precaution and last week’s storm was another example of why this has become common practice in the area.

An unexpected storm tore through Seymour July 5,leaving much of the area without power.

Allen Robbins, Secretary and Treasurer for Sevier County Electric System said more than 17,000 customers were left without power as a result of the storm.

“We got the bulk of them restored by late Friday,” he said. “We picked-up the ones closer to the substations first.”
