The 4th Annual Andy Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Aug. 4 at Three Ridges Golf Course. As family, friends and the community remember the life of a local Knox County Corrections officer all proceeds will benefit the Andy Wilson Scholarship Fund for student athletes at Carter High School.
Andy Wilson was on the Carter High School baseball & golf teams. After his 2004 graduation he became a police officer with the Knox County Correctional Facility. His life tragically ended after a single-car accident in 2008.
The scholarship is awarded each year to one male and one female student athlete who has maintained a 3.0 grade point average while participating in one or more sports throughout their high school careers.
The scholarship fund has also helped student athletes from other Knoxville high schools. University of Tennessee Volunteers tailback Devrin Young received help to attend the U.S. Army Combine in California during his junior year at Bearden High School.
