To help better inform its readers about the upcoming election in August, the Herald will host a Meet the Candidates event next month.

The event will feature the two candidates vying for the 12th District State Representative of Sevier County seat, as well as the two candidates running for the State Senate 2nd District seat. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 12 at Tennessee Shindig, 2391 Parkway in Pigeon Forge.

Candidate Dale Carr is challenging Incumbent Richard Montgomery for the 12th District State Representative seat, and Scott Hughes is challenging Incumbent Doug Overbey for the State Senate 2nd District, in the upcoming August 2 State Primary Election.

All four men will express their specific platforms and meet with the voters in their community during the event.
