In order to combat the summer increase of drunk drivers The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced a roadside safety checkpoint for the week of June 17 in Sevier County.
The checkpoint will be located at SR 339, Harrisburg Rd.
“We have been doing these checkpoints for about six or seven years,” said THP Lieutenant Jessie Brooks. “They have been fairly effective, but they are not foolproof.”
Brooks said the purpose of the checkpoint is to arrest drunk drivers in order to promote safer road conditions.
