Due to the experience gained serving her community, a local fire fighter is currently exploring what she feels is the next step in rescue service.

Elaine Keiffer of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department said she sees a career in nursing as a progression of desire to save lives.

“I graduated from nursing school in December and I became licensed in February,” she said. “Being out in the field has helped and working in an Emergency Room is the next step for me.”

Although not yet working as a nurse, Keiffer said she is waiting for just the right position to fuel her passion before making the transition.
