For the first time in three years, the Seymour High School track team has advanced athletes to TSSAA state competition in Murfreesboro.

The athletes who qualified were from the field event category.  Both the boys’ and girls’ discus throwers will advance as a result of their performance in the Region 1-AAA meet in Johnson City recently.

Seymour’s multi-athletes Hayden Brooks and Victoria Nelson both earned a trip to the state by placing third in the discus throw competition.

Brooks threw 136 feet for the boys while Nelson threw 109 feet for the girls.
