The Seymour Lady Eagle softball team has secured their second trip in a row to the TSSAA state high school softball tournament in Murfreesboro by defeating the Maryville Lady Rebels 9-8.

Last year the Lady Eagles finished fourth in the state tournament and this year they hope to do even better.  Anything is possible especially with a team as talented and well coached as this Seymour team.  A state title could be on the horizon but the team must approach the tournament playing one game at a time.

In the Maryville game the score was tied 4-4 in the seventh inning when Seymour exploded for five runs but Maryville answered in the bottom of the inning with four runs of their own.

The Lady Eagles were trailing 3-1 in the fifth when Carly Lewis smashed a three-run homer that towered over the wall.
