The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department’s recent fundraiser exceeded officials’ expectations, but they are only about half way to their goal.
SVFD Chief Kevin Nunn said the “Boot Drive” fundraiser went better than expected, but there is still a long way to go before the department reaches its financial goals.
The fundraising event, which was held May 5, yielded a total of $12,800, according to Nunn.
“We normally receive anywhere from $8,000 to $9,000 for the spring boot drive,” Nunn said. “The donations were bigger and the extra money helped, but that is only about half of what we need for the down payment on the new fire truck.”
