The Great South Athletic Conference has released its 2012 softball conference awards with the top individual honors being split between Huntingdon and Maryville College. Pitcher, Player and Coach of the Year were all claimed by the Hawks while the Scots nabbed Freshman of the Year honors.

Earning her second straight Pitcher of the Year award is Bree Giordana of Huntingdon. The two-time GSAC Pitcher of the Week finished the regular season with a 14-7 record, 2.92 ERA and 128 strikeouts. Joining Giordana is teammate Aleah Payne who earns her first top honor after a season that saw her with a .467 batting average, 57 hits and 43 RBI.

Keeping Huntingdon from a full sweep is GSAC Freshman of the Year Brittany Henry of Maryville. The freshman pitcher for the Scots was 8-8 on the year with 109 strikeouts in 85.1 innings of work. She finished tied for fourth in the conference in wins and fifth in strikeouts.

Winning her first Coach of the Year honor is Gynger Williams from Huntingdon. She led the Hawks to a top conference finish of 15-1 and the top seed in this weekend’s tournament.
