With two phases of the Improving Hwy. 66 project currently underway, drivers experienced some temporary lane closures this week.
Last week, Blalock and Sons continued work on Phase II of the project. They paved base layers of the new outside lanes and only short gaps remain now.
Also as part of Phase II, which stretches from Douglas Dam Road to south of the 1-40 Interchange, crews continued work on storm drain installation, utility relocation, and concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk construction.
Last week in Phase III, which stretches from Boyds Creek Hwy. to Douglas Dam Road, Simpson Construction and their subcontractors continued the construction of the access roads at the bridge, grading operations, and set sections of concrete barrier rails this week.
