Although not everyone may have received a smartphone for Christmas, there is a good change that most people have an immediate family member who owns some sort of Android-powered phone.
According to Nielsen Ratings and Reports, approximately 44 percent of Americans now own smartphones, and it is predicted that in 2012 smartphones will outsell computers.
These are optimistic figures for Heidi Large, new owner/operator of Gadget MD’s here in Seymour.
Heidi, a former police officer, was forced to give up her job when a series of health problems came upon her parents, requiring her devout attention.
Once the medical storm was weathered, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to chase something she has always wanted to do.
“I’ve always been into gadgets and electronics,” said Large. “I used to buy and sell phones, but most of the phones I was getting were damaged, so I thought of a way in which I could repair the phones before selling them.”
After attending a training facility in Phoenix, AZ, Large and her business partner Mendy Jones were ready for business.
Large, who was “born and raised” in Seymour could think of no better location for her new business.
Gadget MD’s repairs all cellular phones, specializing in liquid damage done to iProducts(excluding computers), and overheating issues with gaming systems.
Being a former police officer, Large takes a great appreciation for our public servants, offering police officers, firefighters, and current members or veterans of the armed forces a 20 percent discount.
Also, for any repair done at Gadget MD’s, Large offers a full year warranty to basic parts repairs and 10 percent discount for first time customers.
Gadget MD’s is located on 10339 Chapman Hwy. Unit #3.
