


A dozen different players deposited points as the Maryville College women’s basketball team opened the 2011-12 Great South schedule with a 63-29 victory over Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia on Sunday afternoon.
Maryville’s Tayler Smith paced all scorers going 5-for-5 from the floor and finishing with 11 points in 12 minutes of action. Janell Menard dropped in nine points on 4-of-7 shooting while Lauren Burnett added eight points featuring a pair of three-pointers.
Alex Bond paced MC on the boards with a team-high seven rebounds. The Scots’ defense forced the Pioneers into 22 turnovers and a 28 percent shooting effort throughout the game while out-rebounding the GSAC foe 49-25.
Wesleyan (0-4, 0-1 GSAC) was led by three players, Bre Solmone, Erinn Williams, and La Joi Battle, who each finished with six points.
