Accidents happen often at this intersection and along Chapman Highway.
Deputy Ryan Cleaveland could not comment on the exact number of accidents recorded along Chapman Highway in recent weeks, but he said that Chapman Highway is the site of many of the wrecks in Sevier County.
“People drive crazy and too fast,” Cleaveland said. “Speed is a factor in causing many of the accidents.”
He said the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol try to write many tickets along the highway, but people still speed and cause accidents.
