The Lady Eagles struggled as they lost to the Lady Mountaineers 47-36. Seymour had trouble getting on track offensively scoring only 36 total points as a team.
Heritage took the early lead 13-9 at the end of the 1st quarter.
They only scored 4 points in the second quarter and trailed 19-13 at the half. Brittany Seagle was the only player to score.
In the third quarter scoring picked up some as the Lady Eagles scored 12. Mariah Flynn seemed to take over during that stretch. The score was 32-25 at the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Eagles cut the Heritage lead to 5 points but the Lady Mountaineers outscored Seymour by 6 points late in the game to seal the win.
The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Seagle with 15, followed by Flynn with 9, Jordan Ballard with 6. Kasey Norman,3, Payton King 2 and Lexi Justus with one.
Jordan Johnson and Marley Long played big for Heritage especially down the final stretch. Long led the Lady Mountaineers with 12 as did teammate Leah Thomas. Johnson added 11.
The loss makes the Seymour Lady Eagles 1 and 2 so far this season. Lady Eagle Coach Brandi Stallings has scheduled a very tough pre-IMAC schedule this season in hopes that it will make them tougher and better prepared to compete in the IMAC regular season and post season which is really what counts.
Next they will be playing in the tough Heritage Classic in Maryville which will have some of the top competition in the area.
