Replay Games and Movies opened today in Seymour, offering an elite retail experience with the feel of a local store.  To say that the business is family owned and operated is anything but hyperbole.
While managing the store will fall on the shoulders of Brandon Ellis and Brian Jennings, the entire family has pitched in to help out with their long history of retail experience.
Elisabeth Jennings previously ran a tobacco business with Brian, while Ellis has managed video game retail stores for years.  They brought together knowledge and experience to jumpstart a new venture.
“We like to stay busy,” said mother Denise Page, who’s provided assistance along with husband Roger Miller.  “We get bored easily.”
Miller initially discovered the business in Arizona, where he bought the name Replay and the remaining inventory.  The family hunted for locations in Morristown, but none worked out.  That’s when they discovered Seymour.
For Jennings, getting into a new clientele in a community like this was just what he needed.
“The environment here has been a very positive change,” he said.
When the store opens, they will be set up to sell new and used video games, movies and accessories.  But much more will follow.  The large upstairs is being converted into tournament space for both video and card games such as Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.  They plan to kick off tournaments as soon as December, while early next year they hope to be able to provide game system repairs.
“We’re trying to fit as much in as we can,” Jennings said.
With so much retail history behind them, the family is excited to get the ball rolling, although Ellis did mention some nerves were at play.
“The stress is making sure everything is done right and not letting everyone down,” he said.
They hope to draw business from both Sevierville and Knoxville by offering an experience like that at a local family store, which they’ll accomplish by mixing experience with a reliance on each other.
“We want people to feel like they’ve been taken care of,” Jennings said.  “We’ll provide a service that beats everyone else hands down.”
Replay Games and Movies opened at 10 a.m. today.  There will be a grand opening on Oct. 28, but Ellis indicated they are still planning what that event will entail.  The store is located at 11606 Chapman Highway next to Willie’s Restaurant.
