The USA South Athletic Conference has released their athletes of the week for action ending Oct. 16 and Maryville College freshman signal caller Melvin Burston was named USA South Football Offensive Rookie of the Week for his breakout performance against Shenandoah last Saturday in Winchester, Virginia.
The freshman quarterback from Bradenton, Florida came off the bench and led the Scots to three touchdowns in a 28-21 loss to USA South foe Shenandoah.
Burston scored two rushing touchdowns and one passing score. On the ground, Burston ran the ball 13 times for a total of 64 yards. Through the air, Burston completed 10-of-21 passes for 155 yards.
