Since 1960, 411 Motor Speedway has offered wild action to anyone remotely interested in racing or just a good time. And the new owners have been keeping that tradition alive.
July 23 will mark the one year anniversary of the track’s purchase by Mitch and Tanya McCarter. Their goal is to offer family oriented entertainment every Saturday night between April and October for only $10 general admission and $5 for kids.
“My background comes from motorcycle racing,” Mitch said. “I’ve been doing that all my life.”
After attending a race at 411 with his sons one night, he said they fell in love with the sport. Hoping to give them a future investment in their new interest, Mitch stepped in and bought the track.
“Hopefully when they’re finished racing, they’ll want to run it themselves,” he said.
With the one year event still a few weeks off, Mitch indicated that their plans for the night are still under wraps for now.
In the meantime, everyone is invited to the July 4 event this Saturday, the Pepsi Firecracker 300, which will include a fireworks show courtesy of Fireworks Superstore.
411 Motor Speedway is located at 632 Maryville Highway and races kick off at 7 pm.
