Several members of a local church recently teamed up with local ministry LIVE-IT to help two Sevier County women in need.
Pathways Church in Sevierville adopted two of LIVE-IT’s projects that changed the environments of two local widows earlier this month.
Pathways’ men’s group, Men in Motion, has already completed many service projects within their church and partnered with the ministry to further reach the community.
The first project was to help a Sevier County widow who was confined to a wheel chair. She had trash that had been removed from her home by neighbors and thrown into her eight-foot-by-eight-foot storage unit next to her house.
She had a year’s worth of trash accumulated and many of the trash bags had already decomposed.
Working as a team the Men in Motion bagged all of the garbage and loaded it onto trucks. After all the trash was bagged, eight truck loads were taken to the dump.
The second project involved the group remodeling a widow’s kitchen because she had difficulty getting around in a powered wheel chair.
Her kitchen had a center island that made it difficult to access her appliances due to the tight space.
The volunteers removed everything from the woman’s kitchen and moved electrical and plumbing to accommodate the new locations of appliances and new flooring was also installed.
When all was said and done the kitchen was much more accessible to the home owner.
