The Maryville College women’s basketball team dropped their third game of the season with a 72-61 decision over undefeated Greensboro College on Wednesday afternoon in MC’s Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
Following a 47% shooting effort, Maryville took a five point lead into the half. Greensboro fought back with a 52% shooting effort while winning the battle on the boards 41-22 to post the 11-point win.
The Scots (5-3) went cold from the floor and did not score for a seven minute period to close the game. Senior Paige Sevier finished with a team-high 19 points going 6-for-10 from the field. She found her range by sinking 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Alexis Rouvelas finished with nine points while CJ Dake and Kiera Payne accounted for 11 of MC’s total 22 rebounds.
Greensboro (8-0) had three players post double digit scoring. Danielle Duncan was strong in the post finishing with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She also added seven rebounds while going 8-for-9 at the free throw line. Chevena Pickard added 21 points after depositing 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Bianca Richburg deposited 11 points while Jada Alvarado posted a game-high 11 rebounds.
