The Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation (KTSC) is pleased to announce that the Tennessee Valley and Oak Ridge Kennel Clubs will be returning to Knoxville for the Great Smoky Mountain Cluster.
The show will take place November 4 through 7 at Chilhowee Park and feature nearly 2,000 dogs from across the United States representing different breeds.
"We are so pleased that the Tennessee Valley and Oak Ridge Kennel Clubs have once again selected Knoxville to host the Great Smoky Mountain Cluster,” said Kim Bumpas, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for KTSC. “Families, often including their pets, enjoy visiting Knoxville year round, and we are thrilled to welcome the show’s attendees to our exciting destination during these upcoming events.”
During this four-day event, over 1,800 dogs will participate in conformation, obedience and rally competitions. More than 5,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will generate more than $1 million in economic impact.
The Great Smoky Mountain Cluster will feature four days of All-Breed Dog Shows with specialties for East Tennessee Collie Club & American Belgian Tervuren Club and supported entries for Collies, Bulldogs, Whippets, Schipperke, and Dandie Dinmont.
One of the major events is the Best of Show award given to the top dog that will have won awards as best of their breed and their group. The dogs chosen are ones that exemplify the qualities and standards of their breed, which are meticulously judged down to the type of spots a Dalmatian has or the texture of a Scottish Terrier’s fur.
Vendors will also be on hand selling gourmet dog cookies, fancy collars, bedding supplies and assorted goodies for man’s best friend.
Admission is $5 per vehicle for parking and dogs not competing in the show will not be permitted. Show hours are Nov. 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7 from 8:30 a.m. 6 p.m.
