The Award Winning Seymour High School Marching Band kicked off their 2010 competitive marching season in amazing form Saturday evening, at Stone Memorial High School in Crossville, TN.
The band came home with a trophy case full of awards. The Percussion section took second in Class AAA. Drum Majors Samantha Orsi and Morgan Coleman and the Seymour Color Guard were awarded
Best Drum Majors and Best Color Guard in Class AAA.
To round out the class awards, the band won Best Band in Class AAA. This is a pretty good haul, but
Seymour was just getting started.
In the Best of Show awards, the Percussion again took Second Overall. Drum Majors and Color Guard took First Place Overall.
The culmination of the day came when it was announced that Seymour Marching Band was named Best Band Overall.
"To my knowledge this is the first time the Color Guard and Drum Majors have won First Place Overall,” said Band Booster President John Staser. “It’s probably second or third time our Percussion has taken Second overall.
 “I think it’s the third time in the Band's 38 year history that we've won First Place Band Overall."
The Band received a police escort by the Sevier County Sheriff's department as they crossed the Sevier County line. It was a very exciting day for the largest band in Seymour High School history.
"With 56 first year performers, this is just the beginning of where I see this band going," said Director of Bands Rhett Butler.
The Seymour High School Marching Band will host the 17th Annual Foothills Classic Oct. 2nd at Benton Householder Stadium.
Please come out and support the band while enjoying the Seymour Marching Band and 20 other bands from Tennessee compete in this talent filled day.
