The Sevierville Police Department (SPD), as part of the National Night Out (NNO) program, will be offering services to several area communities from 7 to 10 p.m. August 3.
NNO 2009 involved over 36 million people in 14,625 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. NNO 2010 is expected to be the largest ever.
Once again this year, Target is a national corporate sponsor. NNO is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
SPD Officers will be in the Gateway, Robert S. Howard and Eastgate communities providing the following services:
At Gateway: child fingerprinting, child car safety seat checks, and general safety information;
At Robert S. Howard and Eastgate: child fingerprinting and general safety information.
For additional information, please contact SPD Sgt. Rebecca Cowan at (865) 868-1866 or rcowan@seviervilletn.org.
