A Sevier County man died as the result of what may have been an accidental shooting on Monday.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said that at approximately 6 p.m. 911 received a call from 1412 Walt Price Road stating that that a person had been shot.
Officers and EMS Personnel arrived on the scene a short time later and found Michael L. Sutton, 28, of 1317 Wears Valley Road deceased from a shotgun blast to the chest area.
When investigators arrived on the scene, witnesses, who were present when the shooting occurred, said that the occupant of the home, Gregory Brown, was handling a 12-gauge shotgun, dropped it and it discharged striking Sutton.
Investigators conducted a crime scene investigation at the house and the victim was transported to UT Forensic Center where an autopsy will be performed.
The investigation is ongoing at this time to determine the manner of death.
