A local man is seeking for those interested in becoming some of the first members of the club he is currently forming.
Local inventor Wayne Johnson is in the beginning stages of starting his new “Inventor’s Club” in Seymour.
He said that people everywhere have thought of some invention idea at one time or another and the club’s purpose is to give members the venue to talk about those ideas.
“Everybody has ideas,” Johnson said, “and nobody really knows what to do with them.
“People come up with ideas but they won’t say anything because they’re ashamed of it. They are afraid to say they came up with an idea. That is the opposite of what it should be, we should feel good about that.”
The club’s purpose is to bring together “like-minded” people and to give advice to those who come up with invention ideas.
Johnson has been inventing since the 1970s and some of his ideas include the flood control system Aqua Levee, a punching bag that fought back and a glove used in Karate to aid in wrist alignment.
“It’s a subject that everybody has inside them but nobody really talks about,” Johnson said. “Everybody has ideas, even kids do.”
“Who knows what we might tap into. Somebody might get up the courage and come out and invent the next new great product.”
Once the idea comes to fruition, meetings will most likely be held once a month in a conference room, but details are not finalized yet.
“This is something I have wanted to do for a while,” Johnson said. “I’m on the ground floor of forming the actual club.
“It is probably going to form itself. It is just going to be an Inventor’s Club with like minded people getting together.”
