The Sevier County Middle School Volleyball Concludes The 2009 Season
The season was very competitive and there were many exciting matches at every meet. The competitive level of the league grows with each passing year and with the addition of Boyds Creek it was amped up even more.
The regular season was not decided until the final meet of the year.
The standings at the end were: 1st Place – Seymour Middle, 2nd Place – Sevierville, 3rd Place (tie) between Boyd's Creek and Pigeon Forge Middle, 4th Place (tie) New Center and Northview.
The county tournament was hosted by Pigeon Forge Middle School.
As with any tournament the chance to get hot and take the prize makes for an action filled event and this one lived up to it.
In the' first match Pigeon Forge wins over New Center to keep their hopes alive.
In match number two Boyd's Creek bests Northview to move to the next found.
In the third match Sevierville advances to the Championship match by putting away a stubborn Pigeon Forge team.
The fourth match of the night was a very entertaining match between Boyd's Creek and Seymour. Seymour won this hard fought battle to get itself into the Championship match.
The finals promised to be as always a knock down drag out….and it was just that. These two schools push each other to the limit and it was always action filled.
The two games in the championship went down to the wire with Seymour coming out on top to-take the trophy.
All the players and coaches should be commended for the work they put in with just a short time to prepare for the season. The popularity of the sport is growing and it can be seen at the high school level with each of the high schools in Sevier County fielding very competitive teams.
Support these schools by attending a meet next year.
