Home Invasion/Armed Robbery Reported
The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) responded to a reported home invasion/armed robbery on Beverly Hills Drive yesterday evening, Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at approximately 8:18PM. According to SPD Officer Shaun Crawford, the adult male victim reported that a man knocked on his front door and when the victim opened the door, the man forced his way into the home and proceeded to hit him in the head several times with a small club-like instrument. A family member left the residence and called 911 from a nearby neighbor's home.
The suspect allegedly left the residence after stealing prescription medication and an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect was described as a male, 6' tall, 180 pounds. He was wearing a Halloween mask and dark clothing. A Pigeon Forge Police Department K-9 and officer responded and located the mask allegedly worn by the suspect nearby
The victim was treated at his residence by the Sevier County Ambulance Service but declined transportation to a hospital.

The SPD offers the following tips regarding home invasion crimes.
* During darkness, keep the residence exterior well-lighted, especially entranceways and driveways.
* Consider keeping exterior doors and windows closed and secured whenever possible, especially during darkness.
* Identify visitors before unlocking and opening doors; if in doubt as to the business of a visitor consider contacting police.
* If an unknown person requests to use your phone or enter your residence due to an emergency, consider contacting police before unlocking and opening your door.
