By now most of you are aware of Connie’s Kitchen, next to where the Seymour Hardware store was. Connie got to us through our stomachs, her personality, clean good food and fair prices. If you can’t find something good there I feel sorry for you.
Well she is making the big time now. On Wednesday August 5th at 4:00 PM on Channel 10, WBIR Live At Five at 4, she will be cooking on the show and Darin’ Erin will be shown attacking one of Connie’s famous, house should I say it, humongous pancakes.
Will Darin accomplish the feat of completing eating the whole thing and winning a T-shirt? Watch and see. That will certainly be worth watching.
In a few short weeks we have had about half a dozen burglaries of small businesses.
Generally the perpetrators seem to be very aware of how and what to do to complete their crime. It seems that it is one well organized gang. Even us at the Seymour Herald have been hit. At least eight of our newspaper boxes have been stolen from their storefront locations.
It is bad enough that this is happening here. I sure hope that the criminals are not local residents.
We are all looking for the stimulus to help us out. But it seems that some are making their own.
As good as most of our local law enforcement agencies are, remember they can’t be everywhere at once.
Parking lot personal crime might be on the increase. Hopefully this crime spree will not escalate into robberies with personal confrontations. But we might expect more purse snatching incidents.
Be careful where you park, travel with a friend and please be alert. If things don’t look right go back into the store. Especially those of us who are getting on a little in the age department and physical prowess are at risk.
Be extremely careful on your riding mower. A friend of mine was doing a friend a favor that wasn’t feeling well, so he was mowing his yard and had a retaining wall collapse from under him and the mower. This was probably unpredictable. He, however, was considerably hurt physically not just his ego. Just think, had he had a child or infant riding with him I wouldn’t want to predict what could have happened.
I consider myself fortunate when I drive home or leave the house. I am privileged to pass by the neighbor’s farmsteads where I might see almost any type of animal. This ranges from llamas to cattle, burros, chickens, goats or horses. Yesterday, my wife was driving and I was scanning the sky which in itself was beautiful, snow white puffy clouds and a most beautiful blue; when I spotted a large hawk circling and looking for prey. It was a beautiful sight to behold. It’s sure nice to take a moment and enjoy what God has given us.
We need to take time to enjoy His gifts. I have enjoyed the last several days of high seventies and low eighties. Talk about enjoying things, Connie has a brand new granddaughter and she is beaming.
Before too long my wife Jo Ann and I will be first time great-grand parents. Jo is getting more excited as the day slowly approaches. I hope that the both of us will be able to travel when the time is appropriate. Of course we are lifting our hands in prayer for a safe delivery and our granddaughters’ well being during the birth as well as that of our great-granddaughter.
Life is good, thanks to God, ask Him to please get you through the night, in the morning thank Him for getting you there and for the day to come.
Laughter
