The 25th Annual Pilot Fireball Moonlite Classic 5K will be held July 3rd, 2009 at 9 p.m. at the University of Tennessee Veterinary School and Neyland Drive.
    Race start is 9 p.m. for all runners and walkers. Registration fee is $20 and participants can register online at www.active.com. Participants can also register on race day between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the UT Vet School.  The registration fee for walkers is $12 through race day. Participants who choose not to get a t-shirt may deduct $5 from their registration at any time.
    The Pilot Fireball Moonlite Classic 5K Run/Walk is the last event in the Triple Crown Series presented by the Knoxville Track Club. The other two races involved in the series were the BlueCross Dogwood Classic 5K in April and the TN Sports Medicine Expo 10K/5K in May.
    The Pilot Fireball Moonlite Classic 5K will award overall participants, age groups and team competitors.   All pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt and those registering on race day will receive one as supplies last.
    There is a $100 cash prize for any runner who breaks the course record.  The male record is held by Kevin Odiorne with a 14:34 in 1997 and the female record is held by Missy Kane with a 16:18 in 1986.
    Expected participation for this annual event is 1200 runners and walker.  The KTC mission is to promote life-long physical well-being through running and walking.
