PIGEON FORGE - Pigeon Forge’s Teaster Lane parking facility, the first “green” parking facility in Tennessee, will open April 16, offering 1,500 spaces.
It will operate daily from 8 a.m.-1 a.m. Parking will be free until late summer. The fee structure for use starting this fall is not determined.
The lot is built with permeable pavement, which prevents runoff by allowing rainwater to soak through into the ground.
“This is the first ‘green’ parking lot in Tennessee, and that’s something that Pigeon Forge can be proud of,” said Melissa Ziegler, director of Wilbur Smith & Associates’ Economic and Community Development Services Group.
