SEYMOUR – While at first glance it may have looked like a PTA meeting gone terribly wrong, Tuesday’s battle ball match between the parents of Seymour Primary kindergarteners and their children’s teachers was actually just one part of a system-wide initiative to “get healthy.”

Though the parents won the day 2 to 1, the match wasn’t about winning or losing, but about demonstrating a healthy, active lifestyle for the children. 

“We wanted the kids to see that parents play, too. You can tell children all day long ‘eat healthy, live healthy,’ but until you model that healthy lifestyle, it won’t have much effect,” said Principal Jan Moore.
