Sevierville Kiwanis will once again host their semi-annual all-you-can-eat pancake dinner on Thursday, October 2 from 4pm to 7:30 pm at Flapjack’s Pancake Cabin in Sevierville.

“Although we started having this event both spring and fall due to the community response, fall is still our major fundraiser.  Most of our funds are distributed during the fall so this event is especially important” stated Kristin Lewis, president of Sevierville Kiwanis.  “Without the funds from this event several programs will suffer.

Proceeds from the dinner will benefit many groups that help provide for the needs of Sevier County children.  Kiwanis is the sponsor of several children who are part of the Forgotten Child program thru MIX 105 radio, Wears Valley Ranch, Sevier County Youth Shelter, Boys & Girls Club, and many others.  “The Forgotten Child program is very close to my heart.”  says Amy Kingery, Immediate Past President. “I have been involved with the program for a few years and the level of need is unimaginable.  The gifts these children ask for are often clothing to wear to a job to help support their family, bed linens because they don’t have them…the list goes on and on.  Some of the children have been living in tents.”

Kiwanis is also a proud sponsor of “The Backpack Program” which provides weekend meals to children who would otherwise go without food.  “While we realize money is tight for everyone, where else can you get an all-you-can-eat meal for $5 while at the same time taking care of our kids?”  questions Kristin Lewis.  “We would like to see how many people we can serve and hopefully set an all time record.  Please come out and have a great time with the club!”

Tickets cost $5 and may be purchased at the door.  Sevierville Kiwanis meets each Tuesday at noon at Damon’s in Sevierville. For more information about this event or any of the charities we support please call Amy at 429-6715.
