The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) is cautioning the public regarding the sighting of an alligator or crocodile in the Little Pigeon River. SPD officers were called to a location just off of Park Road yesterday morning, Sunday, September 21, 2008.
SPD Officers, assisted by a local fisherman, attempted unsuccessfully to capture the alligator/crocodile. It is described as being approximately four feet in length.
An employee of Rainforest Adventures in Sevierville informed police that it was likely a pet that was released by its owners. The SPD contacted TWRA officials and informed them of the sighting.
