KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – The official “opening ceremony” for the 2008-2009 school year takes place at Johnson Bible College Tuesday night (8/26/08).  The formal Convocation to be held at 7:00 p.m. will include a President’s address to students and faculty and will emphasize the school’s theme for this year, “In all seasons, preach the Word” (Holy Bible, II Timothy 4:2).  The Convocation is combined with a Fall Commencement during which 25 degrees will be conferred.  Among the degrees being presented are a Master’s degree in Holistic Education and 21 Bachelor’s degrees in the following programs – Teacher Education, TESL (Teachers of English as a Second Language), Missions, Counseling, Children’s Ministry, and Leadership and Ministry Preparation.  There will be three Associate’s degrees awarded as well.

Twelve of the 25 graduates have been students in Johnson’s L.A.M.P. (Leadership and Ministry Preparation) program, a degree completion program offered by the College since July 1997.  To enter this program, students must have 60 hours of approved college credits.  L.A.M.P. classes meet one night a week.  Each class is held for five consecutive weeks.  The program takes approximately two years to complete a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Ministry Preparation.  For more information on the L.A.M.P. program or the traditional degree programs, contact Johnson Bible College at (865) 251-2200.
