The next scheduled meeting of the Sevier County Commission is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008.
After hearing the reports from various commission committees and elected officials, there will be multiple resolutions up for consideration by the County Commission. The items up for discussion at this meeting will cover a wide variety of topics. To be included are zoning concerns, tax issues, and traffic related items among other topics to be discussed.
The commission will discuss the possible re-zoning of several neighborhoods in the Seymour area into high density residential areas. These areas are located on Maryville Highway, Estates Drive and Lost Branch Road.
A resolution to honor the Tennessee Valley Authority on its seventy-fifth anniversary for its service and leadership in the Tennessee Valley Region is also up for consideration. Since 1933, TVA has provided services and assistance to East Tennessee communities.
At this meeting the Commission will also be addressing various tax issues. A resolution to appoint a Delinquent Tax Attorney to Sevier County will be heard. The formation of a committee to be responsible for determining how the funds collected from the overnight lodging tax will be used has also been proposed.
