Sevierville Police Department (SPD) detectives are investigating the death of a Kodak man that apparently occurred early this morning, Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

SPD officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:35AM, regarding a reported gunshot on Cedar Hills Drive in Sevierville. Upon arrival, SPD Officers Williams and Russell discovered a man with a significant head injury, near a side window of a mobile home at 617 Cedar Hills Drive.

The man, identified as 30-year old Robert E. Overton of Kodak, was later pronounced dead at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. Detectives are awaiting an autopsy to be completed to verify the cause of death.

SPD detectives are searching for 28-year old Jorge Gabriel Martinez as a person of interest in the investigation into Mr. Overton’s death. Mr. Martinez is described as a Latino male with black hair, clean shaven face and no taller than 5’5”. Anyone with information regarding Mr. Martinez’s whereabouts, or who has any information pertaining to this incident, is requested to call SPD Lt. Detective Sam Hinson at 865-453-5506. The public is cautioned not to attempt any contact with Mr. Martinez.
