State Senator Raymond Finney (R-Maryville), who represents the Eighth Senatorial District of Tennessee (Sevier and Blount Counties), announces creation of a Web page for educators, parents, and others interested in education.

Receiving an unusually large volume of inquiries about education during the past few months, he has created a Web page to serve as a resource for information about education-impacting bills, as they are introduced and considered in the 2008 session of the Tennessee General Assembly.

Only a few education-related bills have been filed thus far, but the Web page will be updated frequently to capture other bills as they are introduced in the coming weeks. Bills may include proposals for the HOPE scholarship; pre-kindergarten, K-12, and post-secondary education; teacher benefits; and similar topics.

This Web page may be accessed at: www.finneylistens.com/education.html .

Each posted bill will contain the official caption (summary) and an Internet link. By clicking on the link, pertinent information may be accessed, including the entire text of the bill, the all-important fiscal note, and all actions in committees and floor sessions of the Senate and House of Representatives.

There is also included an online submission form, allowing any reader to communicate easily and rapidly with Senator Finney about a bill of interest.

"I continue to be a leader in communicating with my constituents," explained Senator Finney. "Realizing an unusual interest in education this year, I will post education-related bills on one of my Websites in a timely manner after the bills are filed. I may add Web pages related to other topics, if unusual interest is shown in these topics."
